“Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world,
our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.” – Brene Brown
A friend sent me the following email:
My Facebook page showed a memory I had posted one year ago, and it’s a quote from author Brene Brown. I was just starting out on my own healing journey, and feeling more than a little lost, broken and overwhelmed. The quote below encouraged me greatly at the time, and I wanted to share it with you.
“I think midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear: I’m not screwing around. It’s time. All this pretending and performing – these coping mechanisms you’ve developed to protect yourself from feeling inadequate and getting hurt – has to go.
Your armor is preventing you from growing into your gifts. I understand you needed these protections when you were small. I understand you believed your armor could help you secure all the things you needed to feel worthy of love and belonging, but you’re still searching and you’re more lost than ever.
Time is growing short. There are unexplored adventures ahead of you. You can’t live the rest of your life worried about what other people think. You were born worthy of love and belonging. Courage and daring are coursing through you. You were made to live and love with your whole heart. It’s time to show up and be seen.”
Is it time for you to unearth your unexplored adventures, to grow and to let down your armor? Are you feeling lost, broken or overwhelmed? Call me at 905-275-2795 or email me at: https://bettyfranklin.com/contact/
