Are You Afraid to Live? …How to Overcome Your Fears to Live Your Life Fully!!!

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then is not an act, but a habit. – Aristotle

How often do you stop to take a close look at the habits you have built during your life? Do you realize these practices have much more influence over you than you would like to admit?

Look at the subtle routines that may be eroding your life. What patterns of excellence could you replace them with?

I have developed the habit of driving fast; however, I’m a careful, thoughtful speeder. I simply go a little bit over the speed limit, usually just enough not to get caught but enough that I can make better time than if I drove at the speed limit. I am living on the edge. I don’t generate copious amounts of adrenaline; I only generate enough to keep me a little high. In doing so, I’m indulging in a practice that stresses my body and keeps me looking over my shoulder. Do I really need this? Probably not. Does it interfere with patterns of excellence I could form in its place? Probably.

Or, have I developed a habit of doing as much as I can at the last minute, then marveling at what an excellent job I did under pressure? Does this have the same effect on my mind, body and soul as speeding just a little? Probably.

Some people are in the habit of gossiping. Why? Is it that they are motivated to gossip to diminish others, so they can build themselves up? When we discuss another person’s issues, shortcomings, or failures with another person we are creating a negative impact on the relationship. Is that what we truly want?

Many of us desire to create intimacy in as many of our relationships as possible but gossiping destroys trust and sabotages our ability to build close relationships. It interferes with habits of excellence. You build excellence in your relationships when you create a pattern of keeping your motives clean when it comes to discussing other people.

What habits do you engage in that erode the quality of your life?

There is a great fact about patterns and habits…They can be changed. As you’ve built them, you can also dismantle them and repeatedly develop superior ones.
